Arms, Thighs, & Brazilian Butt Lifts
Arms too big for your shirts? Would you like that extra thigh skin gone? Want a fuller, rounder buttock? Then a contouring procedure might be right for you, including Arm Lifts, Thigh Lifts, and Brazilian Buttock Lifts. These procedures are very common in Houston, TX and Dr. Mushin has considerable experience with all these types of procedures.
What do these procedures involve?
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty): Sometimes, because of weight loss or age-related changes, excess skin and fat and accumulate in your upper arms. This can be particular pesky when fitting into certain shirts. Selecting an arm lift allows you to finally feel proportioned again. Scar location with this procedure vary based on anatomy and patient preferences, but is often put in the inside of the arm or on the backside.
Thigh Lift: Thigh skin and fat can be notoriously stubborn. And inner thigh lift addresses the inside of the thighs by removing skin and fat to create a more youthful appearance. An outer thigh lift can often be secondarily achieved through body contouring procedures like a lower body lift.
Brazilian Buttock Lift: One of the fastest-growing procedures, "BBLs" are increasingly common in Houston. These surgeries involve liposuctioning fat from one area and transferring it into each buttock. The goal is a larger, rounder, contoured cheek. Less commonly, an implant can be placed in those who do not have a large amount of fat available for buttock augmentation.
Can You Combine Procedures?
Yes, multiple procedures can be performed at once. However, for safety purposes, we typically limit procedures to five hours if done in an ambulatory setting.
Will visible scars be present?
With all arm and thigh lift operations, you are trading "skin for scar." That said, where the scar goes, and how the skin heals, can be of the utmost importance. Depending on patient anatomy, some scars can be hidden in creases, while in other cases it cannot. BBL procedures typically only include small incisions for liposuction cannulas and typically heal well. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Mushin at his Houston office to inquire more about your options.
What is the recovery process like?
Typically, the length of recovery varies with the length of the scar. A patient who undergoes a small scar brachioplasty may only need 4-5 days to recover while a larger arm or thigh lift patient may require up to 2 weeks. Buttock augmentations are generally well tolerated and patients need very little recovery time, though depending on the procedure there may be some limitations regarding sitting for several days following the surgery.
