So you’ve tried every diet and every workout routine and you can’t seem to get rid of that pesky fat. Liposuction might be for you!
As we age, losing weight become more difficult because of our slowing metabolism. Liposuction can be a solution and can be an adjunct to a mini tummy tuck for contouring the upper abdomen, or a way to target fat in other areas. Liposuction removes fat from the body give it a whole new look and shape. Dr. Mushin has a experiences with different types of liposuction techniques.
Combining a Tummy Tuck with Liposuction
Liposuction during abdominoplasty is possible in certain areas like the back and flanks. This option adds an extra level of contouring that complements a tightening procedure like an mini or full abdominoplasty.
What other areas can you liposuction?
Many areas in the body are amenable to liposuction. Those can include the abdomen, back, neck, arms, and thighs. Dr. Mushin offers liposuction in all of these areas. These procedures can be done on their own, or in combination with other procedures.
Can you put the fat you suction out in other areas?
We are pleased to offer our Houston, TX patients an ability to use the fat that we liposuction out and inject it in other areas. This is called "fat-grafting," and in commonly done in Houston. The process requires special equipment and additional time to complete. The most famous use of fat grafting is in the Brazilian Buttock Lift, which we also offer here at Memorial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery.
What is the recovery process like?
The length of recovery often varies with liposuction performed. At the time of your consultation, Dr. Mushin will outline your recovery process, which can be quite minimal. In general, the process will follow a similar course:
Day of Procedure: Surgery time for liposuction alone varies depending on the number of areas involved. After the procedure, you will be given pain medication to go home and a compression garment will be put in place.
Second Day: You will be seen in the office, and your dressings will be changed. Dr. Mushin will check-in with you to ensure that any questions you have about your liposuction surgery have been answered.
First Week: Keep binder or compression garment on throughout the week and be light with your activities.
Subsequent Weeks: As swelling goes down, your form will continue to improve and take shape. It's not uncommon for our patients to return to their work at the end of the second week, although this can vary from patient to patient. We advise against strenuous activity for four to six weeks.
